Tvati Oil for Dogs: South Pacific Topical Relief for Joint Pain, Inflammation, and Healing

The South Pacific Secret Helping Pets with Joint Pain and Inflammation

There is a newer natural remedy that has been getting a lot of attention lately, and I wanted to share it with you.

It is showing real promise for arthritis, joint pain, and inflammation in dogs and cats. And interestingly, it is not something you give orally. It is a topical plant oil.

I recently joined a livestream with the founders of this product, and I have started using it myself. After just a few days, I noticed less aches and pain, which caught my attention right away.

Dr. Jones’ Undenatured Type 2 Collagen Joint Care Chews for Dogs

Dr. Jones’ Joint Care Chews—an expertly formulated blend of proven joint-support nutrients, anti-inflammatory botanicals, and a breakthrough new ingredient: Natural Undenatured Type II Collagen. This unique combination targets the root causes of joint discomfort, supports cartilage repair, enhances flexibility, and helps protect your dog’s joints from age-related wear.

What Is This South Pacific Remedy

The oil is called Tvati Oil.

It comes from the Cook Islands and is made from a specific type of hibiscus plant. It has been used for generations by local communities, both for people and animals, to help with pain, injuries, and healing.

This is not just traditional use. The oil was brought to a university in Australia, where researchers tested it and confirmed many of its healing properties.

What the Research Is Showing

There are several areas where this oil stands out.

1. Stronger Skin and Better Barrier Protection

When applied topically, the oil was shown to improve the skin barrier.

This can help reduce allergens entering the body, which is especially helpful for pets with itchy, sensitive skin.

It also helped wounds heal faster, with improved tissue repair and no reported side effects.

2. Faster Bone Healing

One of the most interesting findings is how it supports bone repair.

Studies showed faster bone healing and reduced inflammation around fractures.

If I had a pet recovering from a fracture, this is something I would seriously consider using.

3. Ligament and Tendon Support

Ligament injuries like ACL tears are very common in dogs.

This is one of the few natural options that has shown improvement in ligament and tendon healing when applied regularly.

If I had a dog with a partial ACL injury, I would absolutely be using this.

4. Arthritis and Joint Pain Relief

This is where it becomes especially relevant for older pets.

In studies, daily use led to increased cartilage production. That matters because arthritis is driven by cartilage breakdown.

Improving cartilage goes right to the root of the problem.

What is also interesting is that it appears to work systemically. Even when applied to areas like the neck or shoulder blades, the benefits were seen throughout the body.

Most pets showed better movement and comfort within about 30 days.

The Reality: Cost

Here is the downside.

It is expensive.

A monthly supply can cost a few hundred dollars, which makes long-term use difficult for many pet parents.

That led me to look for alternatives.

A Simpler Option: Hibiscus

The key ingredient behind this oil is hibiscus.

And hibiscus itself has some impressive properties.

It is rich in antioxidants like vitamin C, beta carotene, anthocyanins, and polyphenols. These all help reduce inflammation and support healing.

What Hibiscus Can Help With

Hibiscus is more than just a flower. It can support multiple systems:

  • Joint pain and arthritis
  • Allergic skin disease
  • Respiratory issues such as chronic sinus problems
  • Digestive upset
  • Liver support
  • Blood sugar balance
  • Cardiovascular health

It even has some support for weight management through metabolic effects.

How I Use Hibiscus for Pets

One simple way to use it is as a tea.

Here is what I do:

  • 1 tablespoon dried hibiscus
  • 1 cup hot water
  • Steep for 15 to 20 minutes

It turns a deep red color and has a mild, slightly sweet taste.

Suggested amounts:

  • Dogs: about 1/4 cup per 25 lbs daily
  • Cats: about 1/4 cup daily

You can mix it into food or water. For picky pets, you can give it with a syringe.

Make sure it is food-grade hibiscus.

Where This Fits In

If your dog has joint pain, inflammation, or even mobility issues related to aging, this is worth considering.

The oil itself has strong research behind it and can be very effective.

If cost is a concern, hibiscus offers a simpler, more affordable option that still supports many of the same pathways.

Final Thoughts

I am always looking for things that are:

  • Safe
  • Effective
  • Practical for long-term use

This South Pacific remedy checks a lot of those boxes.

For some, the oil may be the best option.

For others, starting with something simple like hibiscus can still make a meaningful difference.
