One of my favorite tricks is using aspirin to treat hot spots in dogs. Mix 1 dissolved aspirin with 1 cup of strong black tea and apply it to the affected area 3–4 times a day for 3–5 days. The tea helps dry out the wound, while the aspirin reduces inflammation and pain.

6. Benadryl: For Allergies, Anxiety, and Motion Sickness

Benadryl (Diphenhydramine) is a classic remedy for pets dealing with allergies, anxiety, or motion sickness. If your dog is having an allergic reaction or is anxious during travel, Benadryl can help calm them down. For dogs, the typical dose is 1 mg per lb of body weight, twice daily.

It’s also great for pets suffering from motion sickness during car rides or trips. Just like with humans, it has a mild sedative effect, making it an easy and affordable option for short-term relief.

7. Vaseline: First Aid for Skin & Hairball Support
