Bone cancer immunotherapy for dogs
Cancer is one word most of us never want to hear, especially if it involves our dogs.
But what you feed your dog can play a big role in this.
Most of us now know the benefits of supplementing our own, less than ideal diets… well the same thing applies to your dogs.
Your dog on kibble is not getting as many beneficial nutrients that can help support their immune system, preventing serious disease in the first place.
Our supplement, Ultimate Canine Advanced Health Formula, has a 10,000% increase in probiotic levels, additional Antioxidants, 400% more Colostrum, 100% increase in Essential Fatty Acids.

A Promising New Treatment for Dogs with Bone Cancer: The Canine Cancer Alliance
As a veterinarian, it’s always challenging when our beloved dogs face a diagnosis of bone cancer, specifically osteosarcoma. Thankfully, there’s some exciting news on the horizon—a new nonprofit, The Canine Cancer Alliance, is conducting promising research on immunotherapy for dogs with this devastating condition.
EGFR/HER2 Vaccine Study: A New Hope for Canine Cancer
The Canine Cancer Alliance, based in Washington State, is currently accepting dogs with osteosarcoma as part of a groundbreaking study. This new cancer immunotherapy targets tumors that overexpress the EGFR/HER2 proteins, providing new options for dogs with limited treatment choices.
Potential Benefits of Cancer Immunotherapy for Dogs
Here are some key potential benefits of this therapy for our canine companions:
- May slow or stop cancer recurrence and spread
- Could be effective when surgery isn’t an option or chemotherapy fails
- Has shown potential to reverse cancer metastasis
How Does It Work?
This innovative vaccine safely stimulates the dog’s immune system to attack cancer cells that are over-expressing the EGFR and HER2 proteins. To date, over 600 dogs have received the vaccine, with minimal side effects reported.
While this treatment shows promise for osteosarcoma, it may also be effective for other cancer types, such as hemangiosarcoma. Preliminary data has been published, indicating potential for broader applications.

Limitations and Challenges
It’s important to remember that, like any treatment, immunotherapy doesn’t guarantee every dog will become a long-term survivor. Researchers are actively working to improve the efficacy of this therapy and increase the number of dogs that respond positively.

Osteosarcoma is incredibly difficult to treat. Sadly, by the time we diagnose it, the cancer has often spread. It’s encouraging to see new alternatives like this immunotherapy study offering hope for our dogs. If you’re considering new treatment options for your dog, this may be a path worth exploring.
P.S. It’s heartening to see the advancements in cancer treatments for dogs, especially given how few effective options we’ve had in practice up to this point.
