We’re Back — and a Few Words About the “SkeptVet”

First, thank you for being here and for continuing to support me and the Veterinary Secrets community. Your support really does mean a lot.

It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster lately — we were hacked and lost all 528,000 Facebook followers, and to top it off, the so-called “Science-Based Vet,” or SkeptVet, decided to post some pretty nasty things about me online.

Now, I usually just ignore this kind of stuff. But today, I want to share a quick update — and let you know how you can help us rebuild.

The “SkeptVet” Update

Apparently, I’ve made it back onto his radar.

This SkeptVet person, who claims to be protecting the public from “quacks,” wrote a long piece attacking me years ago — and now, he’s decided to update it. He even lumped me in with respected holistic vets like Dr. Jean Dodds, labeling us as “former quacks.”

Here’s some of what he said:

“Losing his medical license has done nothing to deter Dr. Jones from selling his bogus ‘secrets’ and products online. The snake oil business is still booming, and his customers see him as a martyr rather than someone who couldn’t keep his practice consistent with science and the law.”

“He proudly promotes his book, ‘From the #1 bestselling author and former practicing veterinarian, Andrew Jones DVM.’ Bizarre!”

“Despite no longer being licensed to practice medicine, Dr. Jones has a thriving career selling nonsense and lies.”

So, What’s the Real Issue?

I can handle criticism. But here’s what gets me — how exactly does SkeptVet help pet parents?

Sure, don’t go to someone promising miracle cures for cancer or eternal life in a bottle. That’s common sense. But it’s frustrating that people like him spend so much energy attacking others while ignoring what’s really happening in the industry.

Many veterinarians have bought into the corporate model — charging more, pushing unnecessary procedures, and turning away pet owners who can’t afford expensive treatments. And somehow, that’s okay… as long as you don’t mention natural remedies or affordable alternatives that might help.

That’s not right.

It goes against the very oath we take — to prevent and relieve animal suffering. Refusing to help because someone can’t afford care? That’s the real problem.

Why I Do What I Do

I don’t know who SkeptVet is, and honestly, I don’t need to. What matters is this:

I’m here to help pet parents take better care of their animals — especially when vet care has become out of reach for so many.

If I can give you the tools, knowledge, and confidence to safely help your dog or cat at home, then I’m doing what I set out to do.

That’s something I feel good about.
