What They Won’t Tell You About Colloidal Silver – Is It Safe for Pets?
Is Colloidal Silver Really That Dangerous? Why a Video Discussing Its Benefits for Dogs and Cats Was Banned
In my opinion, no, colloidal silver isn’t as dangerous as some might claim. Over the years, I’ve seen numerous positive results from using it for pets. It’s a powerful supplement with various benefits, but unfortunately, it has been given a bad reputation.
Other Beneficial Alternatives for Pets
While colloidal silver has its place, there are many other safe and effective options for your pets. One of my top recommendations is Omega-3 fatty acids. These are incredibly beneficial for inflammation, and they’ve been studied for their antibacterial properties as well. In fact, one study found that:
Omega-3 fatty acids can be considered potential alternative or adjunctive therapeutic agents because of their antimicrobial and immunomodulatory properties.
Why Omega-3 Fatty Acids Are Essential for Your Pets
Omega-3s are known for their ability to reduce inflammation and support the immune system, making them a great addition to your pet’s diet. If you haven’t tried them yet, I highly recommend my Dr. Jones’ ULTIMATE Omega 3 Supplement for Dogs and Cats—it’s a fantastic way to support your pet’s health naturally.
So, while colloidal silver may be controversial, Omega-3 fatty acids offer a proven, safe alternative that you can trust for your pets’ well-being.
What YouTube Won’t Tell You About Colloidal Silver – Is It Safe for Pets?
Hi, I’m Dr. Andrew Jones, and today I’m diving into a topic that has been heavily scrutinized—colloidal silver for pets. Over five years ago, I posted a video discussing the use of colloidal silver for pets, but it was removed by YouTube citing “misinformation concerns." In this article, I’ll share the facts about colloidal silver, its safety, and how it can benefit your pet, despite the opposition from regulatory bodies.
FDA Concerns About Colloidal Silver
The FDA has issued warnings about colloidal silver, stating that it can be toxic in large quantities. Specifically, it can lead to organ damage and argyria, a condition that causes a bluish discoloration of the skin. While these concerns are valid in the context of excessive use, they don’t represent the reality of using colloidal silver in appropriate doses.
Colloidal Silver Safety at Appropriate Doses
At the recommended doses, colloidal silver is highly diluted, typically measured in parts per million (ppm). At these levels, it does not cause any clinical side effects in pets or humans.
In fact, overdosing on colloidal silver is virtually impossible. This is in stark contrast to common over-the-counter (OTC) medications like aspirin, where overdosing is very easy and can lead to serious health issues. Despite this, the FDA has no problem with OTC aspirin, which carries significant risks when misused.
Scientific Studies on Colloidal Silver
Scientific research supports the safety and efficacy of colloidal silver when used correctly. One study, titled Antibacterial Activity of Colloidal Silver against Gram-Negative and Gram-Positive Bacteria, concluded:
“Due to the emergence of antimicrobial resistance, new alternative therapies are needed. Silver has been used to treat bacterial infections since antiquity due to its known antimicrobial properties. Altogether, these results suggest that colloidal silver could be an effective treatment for infections caused by MDR Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria."
This is a strong endorsement of colloidal silver’s potential as an alternative to conventional antibiotics, especially in cases involving antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
Practical Uses of Colloidal Silver for Pets
Colloidal silver can be a valuable tool in managing a variety of pet health issues, including:
- Skin and Wound Infections (Topical application)
- Eye Infections (1-2 drops, 4 times daily for 5 days)
- Ear Infections (2-4 drops, twice daily for 5-7 days)
- Respiratory Issues like kennel cough or cat flu (2 drops per 10 lbs of body weight, twice daily)
Despite its potential benefits, colloidal silver continues to face opposition from platforms like YouTube and regulatory bodies such as the FDA. This resistance seems largely due to the natural nature of colloidal silver and its effectiveness outside of traditional pharmaceutical treatments.
Make Informed Decisions for Your Pet’s Health
I encourage you to make informed decisions when it comes to using colloidal silver. It has a low side-effect profile and, when used properly, can be an extremely effective treatment for many conditions. As pet owners, our priority should always be to find solutions that have a wide safety margin, are affordable, and have minimal side effects.
I firmly believe that treating your pet at home with natural remedies, where appropriate, can be empowering for both you and your furry friend.

P.S. Why the “hate" for colloidal silver? Is it because it’s natural? Or, as Taylor Swift might say (while she’s playing in Vancouver), “Haters gonna hate…"
P.P.S. A very helpful supplement with antibacterial and immune-supportive properties that’s not banned is Omega-3 Fatty Acids. These are considered to be one of the most important supplements in veterinary medicine, according to Clinician’s Brief.
I recommend Dr. Jones’ Natural Krill Oil as it provides high levels of EPA and DHA, better absorption/bioavailability, and is free from the toxins commonly found in many fish oil supplements.

Dr. Jones, have you considered offering alternative medicine courses? I recently signed up for a webinar held by a vet offering “pet coach” certification. I’m not interested in any certification, just want to learn as much as possible to keep my fur babies healthy and help others in need of assistance. The cost of her program was astronomical and not at all what I was looking for.
You would be a phenomenal instructor and I truly believe you would have many excited “students” hungry for knowledge. Your free videos are awesome but we’ve been indoctrinated to learn via workbooks:textbooks in classroom settings.
Please consider offering classes at a reasonable cost for those of us who value your knowledge, passion for healing and keeping our babies healthy. So many animals are homeless because decent pet food and healthcare are becoming financially impossible to afford.
Thanks so much for your time and compassion for humans and fur babies alike. We appreciate you more than you’ll ever know.
Hi Pam, thank you for your comment! Dr. Jones does have an existing course, but he is in the middle of writing (updating) his main book with the latest remedies/treatments, and will update the course once he’s completed that. In the meantime you can see the current course here (this is the online-only version, there is also a version on DVD):

I have personally used colloidal silver for myself and my pets for years. It save alot of Dr visits for both myself and my pets. It is truly an under praised holistic remedy.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I have been looking for a resource such as yourself for a very long time! The natural solutions you suggest are easy to implement, and I appreciate the DIY demonstrations you show in your videos. I have been binge-watching your YouTube channel, so much great content. Many thanks for all your efforts!
