Dr Jones’ TOP Natural Anti-Inflammatories for Dogs and Cats: Safer Alternatives to NSAIDs for Dogs and Cats

Safer Alternatives to NSAIDs for Pain and Inflammation

Conventional NSAIDs can work, but they often come with a long list of side effects.

I am talking about issues like vomiting, diarrhea, ulcers, and in more serious cases, kidney and liver damage.

It is estimated that up to 10 percent of kidney disease in pets may be linked to NSAID use. The tough part is that some of this damage is irreversible, especially when it comes to the kidneys.

That is why I want to show you some natural, safer options that can still help manage pain and inflammation in your dog or cat.

A Newer Option I Have Been Using

One of the more promising options is a blend of cannabinoids.

These include CBD, CBC, CBN, and CBG. They are all non-psychoactive compounds from the cannabis plant.

I have seen these help with:

  • Pain
  • Inflammation
  • Skin redness
  • Immune-related conditions

If your pet is dealing with discomfort or inflammation, this is something worth trying.

Dr. Jones’ Ultimate Cannabinoid Blend for Dogs and Cats

Dr. Jones’ Ultimate Cannabinoid Blend is a complete blend of key cannabinoids including CBD, CBC, CBN and CBG, in 100% Organic Cold Pressed Hemp Oil. The supplement is a liquid, with 3 sizes available (all are the same concentration, just different size bottles): 300mg (5ml, 0.17 fl oz), 900mg (15ml, 0.5 fl oz) and 1800mg (30ml, 1 fl oz). The bottles include a medicinal quality dropper for very accurate dosage measurement.

My Top Natural Anti-Inflammatories

1. Joint Support Supplements

Every dog and cat can benefit from a good joint supplement.

Look for:

  • Glucosamine
  • Chondroitin
  • MSM

These help rebuild cartilage, reduce pain, and support connective tissue like tendons and ligaments.

Dr. Jones’ Undenatured Type 2 Collagen Joint Care Chews for Dogs

Dr. Jones’ Joint Care Chews—an expertly formulated blend of proven joint-support nutrients, anti-inflammatory botanicals, and a breakthrough new ingredient: Natural Undenatured Type II Collagen. This unique combination targets the root causes of joint discomfort, supports cartilage repair, enhances flexibility, and helps protect your dog’s joints from age-related wear.

2. CBD and Other Cannabinoids

CBD is one of the most useful natural anti-inflammatories I have used.

It works well on its own, but combining it with other cannabinoids like CBG and CBN can make it even more effective.

Suggested starting dose:

  • 3 mg per 10 lbs of body weight
  • Given once or twice daily

You can adjust based on your pet’s response.

3. 95% Curcumin and Boswellia

Curcumin, from turmeric, combined with boswellia is a powerful anti-inflammatory pairing.

There are studies showing this combination can be comparable to NSAIDs, without the same side effects.

Suggested dose:

  • Curcumin: 500 mg per 50 lbs daily
  • Boswellia: about half that dose

Dr. Jones’ Ultimate High Absorption 95% Curcumin for Dogs and Cats

Dr. Jones’ Ultimate High Absorption 95% Curcumin is a very highly absorbable – BCM-95® (CURCUGREEN®) is 700% more bioavailable than regular curcumin, and with piperine (BioPerine®) added, absorption is enhanced even further (piperine has been shown to enhance absorption of curcumin by up to 2000%).

4. Comfrey (Topical Use)

Comfrey is also called bone knit.

It is a topical herb that helps relieve pain and supports healing.

Apply a comfrey salve to the affected area:

  • Twice daily
  • For 7 to 14 days

5. DMSO

DMSO is a liquid that penetrates the skin quickly and carries other compounds with it.

I often suggest applying it over a sore joint after using a few drops of CBD oil.

Rub it in gently. It can also be absorbed through your skin, which is considered safe.

6. Acupressure

Acupressure is simple and surprisingly effective.

Two useful points are:

  • BL60
  • KI3

They are located between the Achilles tendon and the ankle joint.

Apply firm pressure for 30 to 60 seconds to help relieve pain.

7. Topical Magnesium

Topical magnesium is a newer option I have been using.

It helps calm pain receptors and reduce discomfort.

Look for formulas with:

  • Magnesium chloride
  • Boron

Apply it directly to sore areas twice daily.

8. TVATI Topical Oil

This is a newer remedy that has really caught my attention.

It comes from the Cook Islands and is made from the bark of a hibiscus tree.

Studies show it can:

  • Speed up bone healing
  • Support ligament and tendon repair
  • Help with joint pain and inflammation

This is especially interesting for injuries like ACL tears, where healing can be slow.

My Takeaway

Pain and inflammation do not always need to be managed with heavy medications.

There are many natural options that can work well, especially when used together.

If your pet is dealing with:

  • Arthritis
  • Joint pain
  • Skin inflammation
  • Immune-related conditions

Start with one or two of these and build from there.

P.S. If you have an older pet in pain, I strongly suggest trying one or more of these natural options. They are often safer and still very effective.

P.P.S. I will be hosting a livestream with the founders of a new topical oil from the Cook Islands. It has been getting great feedback for pain and inflammation, and I have personally seen impressive results.
