What to do For Dog Heat Stroke

Here’s what you can do if you suspect your dog has Heat Stroke:

#1 Move them to a cool, shaded location.

#2 Cool in a controlled manner: Using a hose, start at the back of the neck and run the water along their back, being sure to get the groin and thighs as well – make sure the water is not too cold.

#3 Avoid wet towels: wet towels will warm up and trap the heat, which can delay cooling.

#4 Offer small amounts of fresh cool water.

#5 In serious cases, take them to your veterinarian.

  1. Hello Dr. Jones!

I sure appreciate your wisdom and your videos!! Also, “All Creatures Great and Small” is one of my family’s favorite too! God bless you! I wish you the best!

  2. Sorry I forgot to sign my name. Didn’t mean to be rude. I am an artist. My name is Cynthia Jackson. Miss my little dog. I had gotten real sick about a year and a half ago and felt it best to find my little Bolognese girl a better home than I could provide, even suspecting that I might not live long myself, and wanted to be sure she was provided for. The sweet young groomer loves her, and Luna is in a good home now.

I am writing to you to see if you could help me find a new 5 – 8 LB dog, or housebroken, fluffy, non allergenic, very loving, easy little puppy, Well I can provide more info if you might be able to help!
    Thank you, God bless you!

    Cheers, Cynthia Jackson
