When your pet is sick, it’s an awful feeling, and it’s hard to know what to do, since they can’t talk to us. It’s also hard to know if pet insurance is a good buy. To try to make that decision a bit easier, Democratic state Assemblyman Dave Jones introduced a pet health care reform bill in California late last month.

The bill promises to make pet insurers provide detailed information on their websites so pet owners have a better grasp of what exactly is covered and what isn’t — which otherwise can be a bit tricky. Here’s a brief look at pet ownership, the proposed bill and its consequences:

  1. Trupanion is the best pet health insurance, I have Had VPI and Petshealth insurance in the past. This company is the tops for catastrophic coverage. I do everything in my power that Dr. Jones suggests, including using his ultimate vitamins for my Pomeranian, Penuchi. The Whole Dog Journal, which accepts no advertising is my back up go to guide. Preventing illness is the best strategy with a pro active stance, great insurancegoes a long way towards peace of mind.

  2. I don’t see why more people don’t have pet insurance. I mean, we are required to have insurance for our vehicles – and those are just machines. We all need to take better care of our four-legged friends. Thanks for the article.

  3. SPEAKING OF HEALTH ISSUES—MY ONE YEAR OLD SPAYED BOXER HAS BEEN HAVING KIDNEY/BLADDER ISSUES. I FEED HER HOLSTIC DOG FOOD BY ” PRECISE DOG FOOD CO. THE LIGHT FORMULA DUE TO THE LESS PROTIEN IN IT. SHE STARTED WETTING HER BEDCAT NIGHT–KILLING THE GRASS EVERYWHERE SHE PEE PEED. I TOOK HER IN TO THE VET FOR A URIN TEST. IT SHOWED TOO MUCH PROTIEN AND NO ACID IN URINE. HE GAVE HER A SUPPLEMENT FOR THE ACID IN URINE ADVISED ME TO FEED THE LIGHT FORMULA DOG FOOD TO REDUCE HER PROTIEN. I DID ALL THE ABOVE. THE PROBLEM KEEPS REARING ITS UGLY HEAD. ANY SUGGESTIONS????? I AM AFFRIAID SHE IS SUFFERING OR DOUNG DAMAGE TO HER KUDNEYS OR BLADDER. I AM VERY CONCERNED WITH NO LUCK AT THE VET I HAVE ( only one in our sma town) I have even taken her for urine test out of town. Same results!!! IF ANYONE ESPECIALLY IF DR JONES READS THIS PLEASE HELP ME AND MY BOXER PUP. I AM SO WORRIED. SHE HAD NEVER PEE PEED IN HER BED BEFORE THIS. IT IS NOT HER NORMAL. SHE DOES WAKE ME SOMETIMES. MOSTLY HER PEE JUST RELEASES BEFORE SHE CAN STOP IT THOUGH. IT IS NOT BECAUSE SHE IS SLEEPING TOO HARD EITHER. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT I MUST TRY TO GET SOLVED BEFORE I LOOSE MY CHILD. PLEASE ADVISE ME ANYONE. I WOULD CERTAINLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP. I AM ON DISABILITY AND JUST CANNOT AFFORD DR JONES BOOKS OR COARSES. I AM SORRY TO SAY.
