  1. First of all, the US government officials need to get with the program and STOP deeming our pets as “property”! My dog is a family member period!!! They are sentient beings with emotions, feelings, moods, capable of showing compassion, kindness and love and they make decisions! They have MANY more qualities-I’ve just listed a few. In some other countries, they are considered family members, and it’s a PRIVILEGE, NOT A RIGHT to have a pet in your family. The laws are very strict, and people who abuse, neglect or abandon a pet are very heavily fined and/or imprisoned, depending on what the offense is, and if convicted, they can’t ever have a pet again or there’s a probation period that they can’t have a pet (again, depending on the circumstances, etc.). You have to apply to have a pet, they must be registered, pay yearly taxes on them, etc. I think Germany is one of those countries (can’t remember the name of the article I read). But imo, the US is so backwards when it comes to animals, and it angers me and saddens me to my core. The laws NEED to change for these wonderful, beautiful, magical beings that have a soul. I’m 60 years old and have come to the conclusion that I’d much rather be around animals than most humans! We don’t deserve them! I’m probably gonna catch a lot of flack, but I’m speaking from my heart and speaking for most pet parents who love them with all their hearts and souls, like I do! Thank you,
    Dr Jones!
