Improving Your Dog’s Diet with Affordable Human Foods

Hello and welcome back to my channel! If you’re new here, make sure to subscribe and hit the notification bell. In this video, I’m excited to share with you 10 human foods that are not only safe and healthy but also affordable, to enhance the quality of your dog’s kibble. My dog Tula, affectionately known as the poodle, still consumes a fair amount of kibble. Although it’s a good quality processed food, I’ve been adding certain ingredients to her diet that have significantly improved its quality without breaking the bank.

Boosting Animal Protein

First up, let’s talk about enhancing the animal protein in your dog’s diet. Sardine fillets are a fantastic choice, being high in protein and omega-3 fatty acids, and they’re also cost-effective. I add just one sardine to a cup of kibble a few times a week. Next, we have free-run chicken livers, which are packed with protein, iron, zinc, and copper. Just ensure that liver makes up less than 5% of your dog’s diet, and you can safely add half a chicken liver to their kibble two or three times a week. Eggs are another great option, providing a complete and balanced source of animal protein. I recommend adding half a cooked egg to a cup of kibble daily.

Healthy Fats and Oils

For healthy fats, olive oil is a great addition. It has a good balance of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids, which are excellent for skin health. I add about half a teaspoon of olive oil per cup of kibble, and Tula loves it.

Boost your pet’s health naturally with Dr. Jones’ Ultimate Omega 3 Formula, featuring 100% Natural Antarctic Krill Oil. This formula supports skin health, brain function, liver and kidney function, joint mobility, anxiety relief, heart health, and immune system strength, all while offering better absorption and purity than traditional fish oil supplements.

Fiber for Digestive Health

Moving on to fiber, ground flax seeds are one of my favorite supplements to add to dog kibble. They’re a wonderful source of fiber and omega-3 fatty acids, and you can add one teaspoon per cup of kibble daily. Canned pumpkin is another fantastic fiber source, rich in vitamins and antioxidants. It’s especially beneficial for dogs prone to constipation. I add one teaspoon per cup of kibble daily.

Probiotics and Healthy Carbohydrates

For probiotics, natural yogurt is a great option if you can’t afford a high-quality probiotic supplement. It supports intestinal health, immune function, and even cognitive function. Add a heaping teaspoon per cup of kibble. Sweet potatoes are a healthy carbohydrate choice, rich in beta-carotene, fiber, vitamin A, and potassium. I add about a quarter cup of cooked sweet potato to Tula’s kibble two or three times a week.

Nutrient-Rich Vegetables

Lastly, let’s talk about veggies. Carrots are not only high in vitamins and antioxidants but also great for eye health and dental hygiene. I suggest adding a quarter cup of carrots per cup of kibble. Kale is another superfood, rich in antioxidants, flavonoids, and vitamins A, C, and K. Adding about a quarter cup of steamed kale to your dog’s kibble two or three times a week can boost their nutrition.

In conclusion, nutrition is key to your dog’s health, and these simple additions to their diet can make a significant difference. Thanks so much for watching, and don’t forget to subscribe for more tips on keeping your furry friend healthy and happy.
