We had a very informative member teleseminar last night!
I got to answer close to 15 questions – ranging from How to get a second opinion to something new for dental disease.

How do you get a Second Opinion?

I appears that many of you have been in the position in which you are wanting to have a specific second opinion, including alternate treatment for your dog or cat.
BUT… you don’t necessarily want to switch Veterinarians.
My short Answer..

The BIG reason why your Vet may be giving you resistance to going to another clinic, is that he/she doesn’t think you will be coming back.
SO allay their fears.
If you are happy with you current Vet/Client relationship, then you should be able to comfortably ASK for a Second Opinion.

We don’t know all the Answers..
There is SO MUCH information, that it is IMPOSSIBLE to stay current on EVERYTHING.
Hence veterinarians specialize.
Some become more skilled at surgery.
Others become more skilled at Natural Veterinary Care.
BUT you’ve got to feel that you can express your feelings and communicate that you would like an alternate opinion.
I encourage my clients to do this.
I DON’T have ALL the Answers.
Although I have learned a few things along the way ..:-)
So I encourage you to SPEAK UP!

In the spirit of Friday, I wanted to give you some more detail on a New Dental Product that I am finding is working well for plaque, tartar and BAD BREATH..
PLAQUE OFF
It will help reduce the forming of plaque and loosens existing plaque on dogs and cats. Developed in Sweden and has been shown to be effective against bad breath, plaque and tartar in just a few weeks. In trials, it has been shown to achieve a 66% reduction in plaque and a 46% reduction in tartar in eight weeks.
It is estimated that 85% of dogs over 3 years show signs of gum disease, a major cause of tooth loss. Gum disease is caused by the accumulation of plaque bacteria and is converted to tartar by the minerals naturally occurring in saliva, and is the prime cause of pain and foul smelling breath.
WHAT IS PLAQUE OFF?
Ascophyllum Nodosum is a natural product for which counteracts plaque on the surface of the teeth.
When they dissolve, the ingredients are absorbed into the bloodstream and then impart to the composition of the saliva an ability to dissolve tartar and to prevent new layers from gaining a foothold.
It is well known that the composition of the saliva can help to get rid of the bacteria that promote the formation of plaque and tartar.

In regards to getting a 2nd opinion, well, let me tell you a story that just happened to me about a month ago…I have a western vet & an allopathic vet that I use for my 2 Boston Terriers….When I started to use the WV (have to have one of those in case of emergencies) I asked whether she was ok to work with my AV…It was ok in the beginning, but then I had a couple of emergencies with one of my females that just had a litter. To make a long story short, the WV got tired of me always questioning her practises & going back to my AV for 2nd opinions….I got a “very nice” letter from the WV for me not to bring myself or my dogs to her clinic ever again, as they will not accept us to be treated for anything…
End of story, now I’m screwed, as I live in a small town, & I’m sure nobody else will want to take us on as you know people like to talk. My AV is great, but they are 45mins away from me & they don’t do any surgeries/emergencies, etc.
What the hell am I to do?
