Vaccine Risks

Hello again to you and your pets this rainy Thursday morning.

The BIG questions about vaccines don’t seem to go away.

DO you or DON’T you vaccinate your dog or cat for a specific disease?

I discuss this daily with pet owners – it’s not really an easy decision.

That being said, I was discussing this with a colleague, and he was of the belief that the ‘risks’ of vaccines are way over rated –

…hmmm.

Then I come upon this story from CNN:

(CNN) — Federal health authorities recommended Monday that doctors suspend using Rotarix, one of two vaccines licensed in the United States against rotavirus, saying the vaccine is contaminated with material from a pig virus.

Rotarix, made by GlaxoSmithKline, was approved by the FDA in 2008. The contaminant material is DNA from porcine circovirus 1, a virus from pigs that is not known to cause disease in humans or animals, Hamburg said.

About 1 million children in the United States and about 30 million worldwide have gotten Rotarix vaccine, she said.

The FDA learned about the contamination after an academic research team using a novel technique to look for viruses in a range of vaccines found the material in GlaxoSmithKline’s product and told the company, Hamburg said.
The drug maker confirmed its presence in both the cell bank and the seed from which the vaccine is derived, suggesting its presence from the early stages of vaccine development, she said. The FDA then confirmed the drug maker’s findings.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health, said “a substantial amount” of the DNA was found in the vaccine. But, he stressed, “there is no evidence that it causes any disease. …
There is no evidence that it ever does anything.”

This raises 2 Important Points.

1. Risks vs Benefits

When a child in North America contracts rotavirus, and most do, only rest and fluids are required to recover.

This infection also provides natural immunity that will protect your child for life.

This begs the question…

How necessary is the vaccine, especially when it is contaminated with a pig virus?

I would NOT give it too my children.

2. The Vaccine Manufacturer and the FDA both MISSED the presence of pig virus in this vaccine.

So just how well regulated are vaccines?

How is it that both the multi BILLION dollar drug company and the Government body in charge of vaccine safety missed this?

More reasons to question vaccines and their safety.

P.S. So are the vaccines that are given to your dog and cat completely without contaminants and safe?

Perhaps.

Perhaps not.

It’s ultimately up to you.

I am comfortable with my own pets giving them as few vaccines as infrequent as possible.

  1. This is hip dyspalsia, I’m sure because both of my 2yrs, Rottweilers have this condition. I have been using your supplement for about 4 months and today you would never know they had hip issues.. I can’t thank you enough for your canine supplement. My EX-vet. suggested I put them to sleep. Needles to say he is no longer my vet. I have since started with a Holistic Vet & love her dearly. Along with her help and you supplement and puppies are the epitomy of health. Thank you,Thank you sooo very much, Cathey,Savannah, Marlie & Paislie
