Am I Promoting Snake Oil? Let’s Talk About It

As a veterinarian, I’ve been getting a lot of comments online, especially on my YouTube channel, about my work in the field of natural pet health. Some of the feedback has been amazing, and I’m incredibly grateful for all of you who support me and share in the journey of helping our pets live their healthiest lives. But not all feedback is positive. Some comments criticize my approach, calling me an “uneducated unlicensed hack” promoting “woo-woo” and selling “snake oil.” So, let me take a moment to address these concerns, clear up the misunderstandings, and talk about the products we offer that are designed to improve your pets’ health.

Are My Credentials Legitimate?

First off, let’s talk about education. I graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1992 with my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). That’s eight years of intense schooling. On top of that, I’ve spent nearly 20 years practicing veterinary medicine. Even though I’m no longer practicing, my diploma still stands. It’s true, I resigned from the College of Veterinarians of British Columbia about 10 years ago, and that decision is tied to the fact that I wanted the freedom to share my views on alternative treatments.

You see, in the conventional veterinary world, there are strict guidelines about what you can and cannot say. I found myself at a crossroads, where I had to choose between continuing to practice veterinary medicine under these limitations or stepping away and sharing the natural remedies I believe in. I chose to step away, and I’ve never looked back.

The “Woo-Woo” Comments

Now, let’s address the issue of “woo-woo” and “snake oil.” I’ve always been upfront about my approach to pet health, which includes exploring natural remedies. These holistic treatments are often dismissed by conventional medicine, but I’ve seen firsthand how they can benefit pets in ways that traditional treatments sometimes can’t.
