  1. My cat has been blocked several times and has been to vet to get resolved. I took him totally off the dry food but vet pushed the prescription canned. He has been on this for 4 months now and I want to transition him off this food to better quality food. I hate the RX canned and it is expensive but I dont want him to block again. How can I transition him off this? I have Weruva Press your Dinner pate and Meal or No Deal pate that is low in phos and ash and magnesium to feed him. This was the lowest phos food I could find. Is this a good food to transition to? Are there others I could use also so he doesnt get bored with this? He is a barn cat also. I feed him 4 times a day. He weighs 12 to 15 pounds so need to feed accordingly for weight. Do I still add water to this food or is it hydrated enough? I add 2 tbsp of water to his Rx now and also add if it gets too dry to keep hydrated. He eats roughly 2 1/2 cans of 5.5 oz a day. I can no longer afford this food and I dont like the ingredients and know it should not be fed long term. Any recommendations you can give would be appreciated to help me get him off this food. Also, how long should I take to transition?
