  1. Hello! So you recommend the same amount of home cooked food as kibble? I have found so many conflicting ideas here. My dog is losing weight, so feeding him the same amount seems to not be enough… of course there could be other things at play. But he is 40 lbs and would get 1 c kibble in AM and 1 cup kibble in PM. In general, you recommend the same amount for the stew? Thanks

    1. When transitioning from kibble to homemade food, the amount you feed can vary depending on the recipe and ingredients. Generally, you should not feed the same amount of homemade food as kibble, since homemade meals are often less calorie-dense than commercial kibble. If your dog is losing weight on the current amount of food, you may need to increase the portion size of the homemade food.

As a starting point, I recommend gradually increasing the amount of the stew based on your dog’s needs. You can begin by offering 1.5 times the amount of kibble your dog currently gets and monitor their weight and condition. Be sure to keep an eye on their overall health, and adjust portions as needed.
