Plastic Found in Bonnihill Farms BeefiBowls Frozen Dog Food
Stay informed.
There is a new recall involving plastic chunks being found in dog food, and this is definitely not something you want your pet to consume. Sadly, there are many things in commercial pet food that can lead to illness, but this one is serious enough to get immediate attention.
If your pet ever ingests something toxic, the liver often takes the biggest hit. Nutrients such as Milk Thistle, SAMe and Dandelion Root can be incredibly helpful for liver support. You can find all three in my Ultimate Liver Support Formula for dogs and cats.

Plastic ingestion can lead to gastrointestinal upset, choking or in serious cases, intestinal obstruction.

Why This Matters for Your Pet’s Long Term Health
The FDA loves to warn people about the risks of raw, frozen, freeze dried and unprocessed pet food. Their notice includes another reminder that pet parents should “avoid” raw diets.
Sure. But what about the toxins formed in highly processed kibble?
Dry food and heavily cooked diets contain Advanced Glycation End Products, also known as AGEs. These are harmful compounds created during high heat processing. They are linked to:
-
chronic inflammation
-
oxidative stress
-
diabetes
-
kidney and liver disease
-
accelerated aging
Raw or fresh diets contain far lower AGE levels.

Your dog is unlikely to die from salmonella in raw food, but many dogs eating heavily processed diets develop cancer far too young. I see this all the time.
So no, I do not agree with the FDA’s suggestion to avoid raw diets altogether.
