How would you transition a dog from phenobarb to the alternate options? 13.5 yo female Papillon. Seizures for 2+ yrs. Controlled on phenobarb but we have increases dose twice. Very healthy other than seizures. Would you recommend adding the options while decreasing phenobarb?

Hi, Dr. Jones advises gradually reducing the dosage of phenobarb after you start on CBD. For the first 2 weeks when on CBD, do not reduce phenobarb dose. For the next 2 weeks after that, reduce phenobarb by only 1/4 dose, and monitor, and you can keep reducing by 1/4 dose every 2 weeks until off of the med. However, some dogs will still need to be on phenobarb, it may be different for every dog.
