Re: WARNING – Disturbing Animal Cruelty Case
//////////////////////////////////////////////
Hello fellow readers.
This is a disturbing newsletter that came about with a REAL Animal Cruelty Case.
I am sharing this with you to highlight JUST was is WRONG with our Justice System.
It is very unsettling, so many of you may NOT want to read this.
I don’t want to go into exact specifics, but it involved the inhumane killing of a cat.
A cat was injured or ill, and the person who ‘owned’ the cat decided to euthanize it himself.
He used a Microwave.
Pretty hard to believe – and completely repulsive.
BUT, this person and specifically what happened was reported to the SPCA.
The case was taken to TRIAL.
The Judge threw OUT the charges because there was NO EXPERT OPINION stating that the cat died a very painful, INHUMANE death as a result of being in a Microwave.
WHAT…
What Ever Happened to Common Sense. If you are to Ask 100 people this Question, they will tell you that this would be an extremely painful way to die.
It`s plain old common sense.
What is WRONG with our Justice System.
Clearly the JUDGE has NO COMMON SENSE, for HOW could you throw out the Charges based on that…
My point of ALL of this is to share with you JUST HOW far we still need to go in changing many of those in power in society.
Our Pets have HUGE Value – they are OUR family.
If the same case had involved a person- there is NO WAY a Judge would have dismissed the case based on lacking an EXPERT OPINION that boils down to common sense.
They should have put the OFFENDER in the Microwave and asked if it was painful.
//////////////////////////////////////////////
P.S. Feel free to comment on this story.
P.P.S. I needed to get this off my chest. I am currently involved as the EXPERT in another Animal Cruelty Case, and I intend to make sure that this case is NOT DISMISSED.
Have a Safe and Happy Weekend.

i feel very sad about the cat that was put in the microwave i cried when i read it i am an animal love i only wish i had a micro wave big enough to put that person in for an hour . he would not live to do it again pat
GOD, THIS JUDGE IS A TOTAL IDIOT!!! HERE IN CA IT IS A FELONY TO DO ANYTHING TO A HELPLESS ANIMAL.
IF YOU HIT A ANIMAL WITH YOUR CAR AND FLEE THE SCENE IT’S A FELONY!!!!!!!!! THIS PERSON WHO PUT THE POOR CREATURE IN A MICROWAVE SHOULD GET DEATH.
I AM SICKENED BY OUR SOCIETY TODAY THAT BELIEVE THAT ANIMALS DO NOT HAVE A FIGHTING CHANCE. I’D LIKE TO PUT THIS INHUMANE LIFE OF THIS HUMAN IN A CREMATION BURNER ALIVE AND SEE HOW HE WOULD LIKE TO BE BURNED ALIVE. AN EYE FOR AN EYE. EXAMPLE A LADY IN OUR RV PARK HITS A CAT AND FLEES, THE POOR CREATURE IS BLEEDING FROM THE MOUTH, BARELY ABLE TO WALK. I TOOK THIS POOR CREATURE TO MY VET, UNFORTUNTLEY WITH INTERNAL DAMAGES THE ANIMAL HAD TO BE PUT TO SLEEP, END TO HORRIBLE SUFFERING. THE LADY WHO HIT AND RAN AFTER HITTING THE CAT REPLIED ” I THOUGHT I HIT SOMETHING AND FELT A BUMP” BUT DIDN’T BOTHER TO STOP AND SEE WHAT IT WAS. SHE WAS IN A PICKUP TRUCK. I WAS SICKENED BY HER LACK OF COMPASSION. PEOPLE THAT HARM, ANY ANIMALS THROUGH THEIR OWN INJUSTICE SHOULD RECIEVE THE SAME JUSTICE. ALTHOUGH THIS MAY SEEM RUDE TO SOME, NO ANIMAL HAS TO DIE AT THE HANDS OF STUPID HUMANS THAT THINK IT’S FUN TO PLACE A CAT, DOG, MICE IN A MICROWAVE FOR THE HELL OF IT…….MAY THE HUMAN BEING JUDGED WHEN THEY MEET THEIR MAKER WHEN THEY DIE. DISGUSTED!
SUSAN OWNER OF TWO SHELTIES, TWO CATS, WHO ARE THE LOVE OF MY LIFE…….
Even though I’m from Australia I’ll gladly chip in to have a microwave built to put this dickhead & the judge in. I’ve found that most people who are cruel to animals are gutless, thus picking on something they know they can conquer however I don’t know about the judge, he obviously should be disbarred & locked up himself if he can’t see how this would be a horrific death. Microwaves are used as weapons now by the military to destroy & kill, I wonder how he thinks his coffee or meal gets hot when he takes it out of the microwave ? magic ? What an educated idiot !
I wish the guy that did this lived near me, I bet I could fit him into my microwave with a few not so gentle bends !!!!!!!!!
I know it takes all types to make a world but we would sure as hell be better off without scum like this.
Let’s hope there is such a thing as kharma.
Good Morning DR.Andrew,
These stories about animal cruelty are just too much…Unfortunetely..There are many Neanderathals out there, seems their brains did not develop…If u keep a close watch on the animals in the wild they are not so cruel to one another…as the human.
Anyway in my opinion, That judge and the person should both be senetenced to work in an animal shelter where the battered beaten and abused animals get help..But then some of these types are beyond help…Sick !!!
Hope u Have a Good Weekend 🙂
This is so sad but I feel so incensed to know that a supposedly intellegent person could believe that this poor cat suffered no pain, I never cease to be dissapointed at the cruelty that some people can inflict on the very creatures they should be proud to care for. I don’t usually comment on things but when I read something like this I feel that something should be said. We have a voice, our beloved animals don’t, we must speak for them.
Dear Dr. Jones: I saw that story on TV and in the newspaper–absolutely disgusting!! I agree that the perpetrator should have been put in the microwave. All these “brave” people who abuse poor innocent animals should be treated in like form. Our laws definetly need changing. Too many people are getting away with torture. It makes me ill to read these horror stories. Jean Christianson.
This is beyond tragic. How some people can rationalize this kind of thing is just unfathomable to me.
This “judge” ought to be hauled off the bench IMMEDIATELY. Disgusting.
The “defendant” (and judge) better hope I never come across them in a dark alley or anything. I’d love to teach them the meaning of “dying a painful, inhumane death” first-hand.
I can’t imagine that an animal that typically provides nothing but love, companionship and affection would ever be repaid in this kind of horrible manner.
People as stupid as this owner don’t deserve pets. Let’s hope for our sake that this “defendant” doesn’t breed. The human gene pool needs less pollutants like this.
I will hug my cats (all three of them) tonight. It breaks my heart to know that there are people like this out there – and idiots sitting on the bench willing to defend them by not making a simple assumption as part of a ruling that “being put in a microwave constitutes painful, inhumane death”. Either this guy is far too much of a pansy to render decisions involving thought/simple assumptions or far too stupid to be rendering decisions at all. In either case, he’s not worthy of the robes he wears.
Another question worth asking is, “was there legal malpractice involved here?” Any lawyer prosecuting this guy worth his/her salt would’ve had the sense to get expert testimony. Because of a stupid/lazy lawyer and a very stupid judge, this horrible case of animal cruelty is going unpunished.
Stories like this break my heart. There is so much needless suffering in the world. The last thing we need is more of it, and to see it defended. I wish I could save them all myself, but I can only do so much. . .
People who choose to act inhumanely towards animals need to be punished because they always excelerate the cruelty to a higher level if allowed to get away with it. This type of leniency should be reported to PETA so that they can keep an eye on this judge and his behavior so he does not get to higher office.
Oh this just broke my heart~at least in California they are now being charged with a felony, when they mistreat an animal. I have several~an 18 yr old dog and a 15 yr old cat, that I rescued many years ago~and am blessed with the love they return. Last year, with the pet food scare, I almost lost Toto~until I happened across your website~luckily I had already pulled all canned dog and cat food, as kiki turned her nose up at it~~I make all my dogs food, and she is just amazing~walks everyday~and appears much younger, except for her gray hair~~Thank you Dr. ~~ Jean
Here in CT. we had a man who drilled holes in a dogs head. The dog, Baby, suffered for hours before she was euthanized. A petition was started on Petitions.com and will be shown to the judge when he is goes to court on Feb. 14. You can be sure we will be there.
Unfortunately, when the person is a “scientist” they are allowed to do this and far worse with impunity. And of course, nothing compares to the atrocities for those non humans that are considered food before, and especially at the slaughterhouse.
This is a horrible story and it is so, so frustrating dealing with the legal system in cases like this. The problem is that, in most states or provinces, animals are still legally described as property. They are considered in the same vein as a couch or television. There are many good people out there who are trying to have laws changed. They are trying to have those of us who share our lives and homes with animals described as “Guardians” instead of “Owners.” If this happens, pets would no longer be thought of as property, but as sentient beings, just like our children. I believe that Colorado is one state where this has already happened.
The funny thing is that one of the groups of people often opposed to this sort of wording in the law are veterinarians. The reason is that if this change in the laws happens, they can be held liable for medical malpractice. Right now, if something happens to our pets while under the care of a vet, well, the vet is sorry, he or she did all they could, but that is that! If the laws change, we could sue the vets for medical malpractice, just the same as we do with doctors when something horrible happens to us. Personally, I would like to see vets be forced to be a bit more responsible. Many of them are great, and really do care about the animals, but on the other hand, I have heard too many stories about those who are not so great and maybe should not be in this profession.
To put a cat to sleep using a microwave is one of the most cruel acts of abuse to an animal I have ever heard of. Does that person not know that microwaves cook from the inside out and the cat would feel very real pain? Also, the judge who threw this case should be made to do work at a shelter where there are abused animals. He may change his idea that animals do not feel pain.
I am a great animal lover and have two wonderful cats of my own. They are like our children and we would never think of causing them pain!!!
It is true, that we have a voice, our beloved animals don’t and we must speak for them as much as we can!!! Animals do feel pain and that Judge should be ashamed of himself to throw this case out of court. This is really sick!!! The person who killed the cat should be charged with cruelty to animals and the judge charged as an accessory.
I too am disappointed at the cruelty that some people inflict on animals who give us unconditional love.
Beth
I would like to know how to contact this judge AND his superior or governing body not to say you %$**&%^#$ although true, but among other things, to articulate the point above that ‘if it were a person an expert opinion would not be needed. I believe microwaves work though friction between molecules causing the water to boil in cells, lysing them. Please correct this if necessary but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to determine heat equals pain. perhaps a civil suit would be one way to get the judges attention. there would be no legal basis for a win however it would certainly make a point if say, 15 people did their own in small claims as a harassment/make a point exercise. First rule with lawyers and doctors to get their respect, thus their attention: speak in their language with the best vocabulary you can use. BE precise, concise, don’t repeat yourself, and while I would prefer he be attacked with a flaying knife (for skinning alive although without expert opinion I don’t know if it would be painful-sort of like ‘did the tree make a sound with no one to hear?’), to verbally attack without material points will only cause this obtuse, self important poser who, we MUST remember, has power to make further decisions so don’t give reason for him to have a condescending opinion thus giving an excuse to disregard the message because of the messenger. Make no mistake, I rescue and currently have 16 cats and would like to hurt him severely, the goal and how it can be obtained is paramount.
Both the judge and the perpetrator should be microwaved! I couldn’t even think of such a horrible death.
What a shame. The way i see it, that “angel” cat gave his life to possibly save someones elses and the judge dropped the ball. Hopefully this offender will not escalate his torture onto other living human or non-human beings
Anyone that would hurt an innocent animal has a major sensitivity chip missing and shame on the judge. My dog Willie Nelson is the love of my life and I can’t imagine anyone hurting someone so special and sweet. I watch Animal Cops and Animal Precinct on the Animal Planet in the US and talk about animal cruelty cases? Unbelievable. I sit there and cry a lot through those episodes. If I could devote my life to fostering dogs and cats I would be a happy woman. That is my goal in the future.
Im getting so sick of people being so cruel to animals it makes my blood boil.Right now where I live theres a court case against three young people who broke into someones home and put there beautiful cat in the microwave and killed it.What a horriable thing for a family to come home to.I have also seen where a 10-11 yr old was trying to kick a little bosten terrier on to the road when I asked him what he was doing all he would says was I just want to see what it would look like if he got hit by a car.I asked him how he would feel if someone did that to him and of course his respond to that was I will be charged for touching a miner.I did manage to get the little guy away.I love animals they give so much.I have rescued lots of dogs and it is very rewarding.I really dont know what this world is coming to.We need to do something about the young people I see them throw rocks and wood at dogs that are tyed up.I have had my dogs poisened.I hope and pray that the judge in this case throws the book at these 3 and hard. That judge in that case should have to serve hard time at the shelters and 6 months .of his pay should go for donations to the shelter
If you want me to sign a petition relating to this or any cause to help animals just holler.
This action has raised all our heartrates and blood pressures and we are angry- no, incensed
and I could write pages but it is action that is needed! (F****** imbeciles!!!)
You have got to be kidding! “Common Sense” thats an oxymoron. That Judge sounds like the one that blamed a six year old for being provocative and at fault for her own rape.
Some one needs to protect those who can’t protect themselves. My solution, put the Judge in the microwave. I can only hope one day he will be helpless and find himself at the mercy of a heartless cruel person.
Can anything be done to the stupid and insensitive judge, such as having him removed from the bench? He is a danger to society!!
Another one of those horrific true stories which one would think shouldn’t be happening in our day and age. It’s terribly sad and sickening. Yes, why don’t we throw that animal murderer inside a microwave as well. Let him feel the pain and suffering he has caused. Maybe throw in that idiot judge too. I want to stay humane, but when you hear news like this it’s hard not to react. Indeed, if we need to sign a petition, count me in.
BEING A RETIRED FIRE FIGHTER 24 YEARS I DO KNOW THE TURE VALUE OF LIFE AND HOW FAST IT CAN BE GONE, IAM A GIVING PERSON AND WILL ONLY TAKE STRAY DOGS OR UNWANTED DOGS, NO REASON TO BUY ONE THE SMART ONES ARE THE MUTS, WITH JUST BAD HABITS (WITH THAT OUT OF THE WAY) I WOULD LIKE TO DRILL A HOLE IN A MICROWAVE AND MAKE IT THE SIZE OF THE JUDGES PINKIE FINGER WITH YOUR BODY 97% WATER SMALL MICROWAVE 500 WATT FOR 15 SECONDS SHOULD BOIL THE BLOOD IN THE TIP OF YOUR FINGER AND GIVE HIM A IDEA OF THE WHAT THE SEALED PARTS OF THE BODY FELT LIKE JUST BEFORE DEATH, WHAT SCHOOL DID THIS JUDGE GO TO SCHOOL AT, HE MUST HAVE BEEN A VERY RICH LAWYER TO GET THE JUDGE CHAIR, SORRY I SAID TO DO THIS TO SOME ONE BUT ON THE OTHER HAND THE JUDGE NEEDS TO FIND OUT WHAT HE JUST SAID WAS NOT PAINFUL. JFB
Sadly, common sense is an ever-more frequently LACKING element today, not only in the justice system, but in everyday life!
While this incident is indeed horrendous, callous, cruel and utterly beyond belief, I cannot condone wishing violence upon the perpetrators, both the poor cat’s owner as well as the judge. That kind of thinking only condones MORE violence and solves nothing! Negative thinking and action only begets more of the same! Does wishing violence on anyone get animal welfare laws changed and strenghtened? Does it educate people from an early age that animals are sentient beings? DO something positive to enact change: get a letter-writing campaign going or contact your gov’t officials (at all levels) and let them know how you feel about incidences like this and what you want them to do about it. Then cast your vote to politicians who support your beliefs. There’s more I am sure but at least this is a start!
About a month ago, in Camrose Alta. four liitle punks broke into a house while the owners were on holidays. When the neighbor went in to feed the cat, she found the words “nice cat, look in the microwave” scrawled on the window. The poor cat was cooked alive by these sick little sadists.
Of course, the criminals being young offenders and this being Alta., one can be quite certain that their will be little or no repercussions for these sick little bastards. There ‘mock trial’ has yet to take place.
I can’t bear to think what this poor, poor cat went through, though I have not stopped thinking about it since, and the justice system, and political parties that seem to not only to condone, though in fact encourage these crimes with their non-existant punishments, I feel must truly be evil, as they could put a stop to this true manevolance if they desired.
Andrew, this is a sickening report. I agree with all that has been said by the animal lovers here. What is WRONG with that judge? Could anyone in his position really be that STUPID? I would just like to spend 10 minutes with both the perpetrator of this shocking act, AND the judge. As a friend once said to me “the thing about common sense is its NOT common”. Nuff said!
Cruelty to animals and to humans is barbaric. Governments have funded research studies involving extreme cruelty inflicted upon the innocents. Microwaving cats and dogs to see if the animal would die is one of the research studies they have funded. Products are tested on animals to see if they are safe for human use. Medical research is done by conducting horrible and cruel procedures on helpless animals. DEATH CAMPS.
Humans are capable of inflicting the most horrible kinds of torture upon one another and excuse it (as in war, for example). It is not surprising that they are also capable of inflicting torture upon the innocents of the planet – children, animals.
We have not yet evolved past the Dark Ages as a society as a whole. Just look at the actions and decisions of those who are supposed to be setting the examples of what is right and what is good – Judges, governments…
It is times like this that I feel ashamed to belong to the (un)human race. These ones disgrace the rest of us who truly value all life.
This is just terrible. I have 2 words for this person SICK MURDERER! I am the very proud owner of my 2 mixed breed dogs Rockkey & Bear, goldfish, and newts…I LOVE them all dearly.
Please…that person has to pay for that horrindous crime.
Mad Jess.
This was so appalling, I had to wait to respond.
I literally felt sick to my stomach. I have such a hard time reading these kinds of things. What I find MORE repulsive than the act itself is the mindset of the judge who is supposed to represent justice. No, I don’t want anyone microwaved. One too many has already been, but perhaps lethal injection (daydreaming)….
Now HERE is a Judge that truly represents someone who sees to it that JUSTICE is served: (My kind of Human!)

U.S. judge orders woman to spend night in woods after she abandons kittens there
Ohio Judge Has Reputation for Handing Out Unusual Sentences
An Ohio woman will spend a night in the woods without water, food or entertainment as part of her punishment for abandoning 35 kittens.
Painesville Municipal Court Judge Michael A. Cicconetti handed down the sentence on Nov. 17 to Michelle M. Murray, 25. On Sept. 19, park rangers found the kittens abandoned in two parks in Mentor, Ohio. Many of the kittens had upper respiratory infections and nine later died. They were traced back to Murray because they were wearing identification collars.
“How would you like to be dumped off at a metro park late at night, spend the night listening to the coyotes … , listening to the raccoons around you in the dark night, and sit out there in the cold not knowing where you’re going to get your next meal, not knowing when you are going to be rescued?” Cicconetti asked the defendant.
Murray, a mother of three children and two stepchildren, said the kittens were left on her doorstep by a stranger and the local Humane Society refused to help. The Humane Society disputes that claim.
Cicconetti gave Murray a choice between 90 days in jail for domestic animal abandonment or 14 days in jail, 15 days under house arrest, a $3,200 donation to the Humane Society a $500 donation to the park rangers who found the kittens and one night alone in the woods.
Murray chose the latter. She will report to the local jail today, where a park ranger will take her to a remote location. She will be picked up again on Thanksgiving morning. Originally, Cicconetti said Murray was to have no food, reading material or entertainment devices and was to have only the clothes she wore — as many as she wanted — to keep her warm. Due to plunging temperatures, however, the judge said he may amend his orders and allow her to make a fire.
History of Crime-Appropriate Sentences
This isn’t Cicconetti’s first unusual sentence:
He has ordered a man who hollered “pigs” to police officers to stand on a street corner next to a 350-pound pig with a sign that read, “This is not a police officer.”
After an 18-year-old man stole some porn from an adult bookstore, the judge ordered him to sit outside the shop in a chair, wearing a blindfold, and holding a sign saying “See No Evil” so that passing traffic could see him.
Cicconetti punished a group of high school students who vandalized school buses by making them throw a picnic for a group of grade-school students whose outing was canceled because of the stunt.
A nanny accused of hitting a little boy with a belt was given a folder of articles on the consequences of child abuse, and compelled to read them all, and then discuss them in the courtroom in front of the judge and the victim’s mother, as spectators looked on. Afterward, the mother agreed to no jail time for the nanny.
Effectiveness of Creative Sentencing
Cicconetti said he can remember just two people who have been sentenced to alternative punishments and reoffended.
One of them was a man who ran from the police and was offered a reduced jail sentence if he agreed to train for a five-mile race. The man stayed in shape, and a few months later, he grabbed a woman’s purse and ran with it.
Cicconetti said he began offering creative sentencing when he was getting lots of cases of people speeding in school zones. Eventually he got sick of it, and thought why not force these people to confront the danger they are creating?
He offered violators a choice: Have their license suspended for 90 days, or have it suspended for a shorter period and spend one day working as a crossing guard. He said those violators who spent a day shepherding schools kids across the street never appeared in his courtroom for speeding again, even if they previously had multiple offenses.
Cicconetti eventually expanded his creative sentencing to other crimes, but stressed he offers them rarely and never as punishment for a violent offense.
Forgot to add that the date of that news article
(for any who want to check out it’s validity was
Nov. 23, 2005
This is retarded! What kinda of ignorant snot puts a
f***ing cat in the microwave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is stupid, he/she should get exactly what the cat got.
I’m not an animal owner nor do I condone or support animal cruelty in any form. However, to balance the scale, how many of you realize how many millions of chicken, cattle, lambs and other animals are slaughter daily as food for humans. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good steak about every 8 to 12 months. But where is the our rage for those animals? I rarely (not related to beef) hear any outrage for that.
THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END WHAT A SAD STATE OF AFFAIRS WE ARE IN AND FACING THINGS LIKE THESE WHEN PEOPLE ARE SUPPOSE TO BE MORE INTELLIGENT THAN ANIMALS NOW I THINK IT IS THE OTHER AROUND
I feel very sad for the animals that are being abused all around the world. I wish people would stop abusing them. If they don’t like animals, then they should not have any animals instead of abusing them.
I feel very sad for the animals that are being abused all around the world. I wish people would stop abusing them. If they don’t like animals, then they should not have any animals instead of abusing them. Don’t even abuse them.
