What I Feed My Cat Cassian: Real Food, Real Health
Hi everyone, it’s Dr. Andrew Jones here.
Today’s the big reveal — this is exactly what I feed my cat, Cassian.

If you’ve been looking to learn more about natural cat health and nutrition, you’re in the right place. Let’s dive into what a truly healthy cat diet looks like, and why I feed Cassian this way.

Keep Your Cat Active and Healthy with Dr. Jones’ Ultimate Feline Health Formula
Crafted specifically for cats, this formula supports digestive health, immunity, skin and coat, and lean muscle. Packed with essential vitamins, antioxidants, and fatty acids, it helps your feline stay playful, resilient, and full of life.
Complete, All-Natural Nutrition for Graceful Aging
Dr. Jones’ Ultimate Feline Health Formula is a holistic daily supplement that enhances overall health and promotes long-term wellness, ensuring your cat ages gracefully while staying active and vibrant.

The First Principle: Cats Are Obligate Carnivores
Cats are obligate carnivores, which means they need animal protein to survive and thrive. Their bodies are designed to get all essential nutrients from meat — not plants, not grains.
Carbohydrates? They don’t need them at all. In fact, carbs can cause harm.

When you look at most commercial kibble, the only way to get it into that crunchy little shape is by adding carbs. But cats like Cassian can’t digest them properly. They don’t have salivary amylase or enough digestive enzymes to break carbs down. So when we feed them carb-heavy kibble, we set them up for problems like obesity, diabetes, chronic inflammation, and kidney disease.
So in Cassian’s bowl?
No kibble, no fillers, no unnecessary carbs.
The Second Principle: Cats Need Moisture
If Cassian were hunting in the wild, he’d get his water through his prey. Fresh meat naturally contains about 70–75% moisture.

When we feed cats dry kibble, they get almost none — leading to dehydration, urinary tract disease, kidney issues, and bladder stones.
That’s why moisture-rich, protein-rich food is at the core of Cassian’s diet.
His main meal? Cage-free turkey — a single-ingredient, animal protein that’s rich in amino acids, natural fats, and hydration.
This provides:
-
Building blocks for muscle and tissue
-
Natural energy
-
Enzymes for healthy metabolism
-
Glutathione, a master antioxidant that keeps his cells young and strong
The Essentials: Taurine and Nutrient Boosters
Cats need taurine, an amino acid they can’t make on their own. Without enough taurine, cats can develop heart disease, eye problems, and even cognitive decline.
Years ago, many commercial cat foods lacked taurine — and cats got sick. In the wild, they get taurine from eating whole prey. In processed kibble, it’s mostly missing.
That’s why taurine is one of the most important parts of Cassian’s diet.
I also add brewer’s yeast, a natural source of chromium and B vitamins that helps manage blood sugar and supports healthy skin.
Cassian’s Raw Food Mix
Cassian also gets prepackaged frozen raw food from Big Country Raw.
It includes:
-
Ground chicken with bones
-
Beef heart, liver, kidney, and spleen
These organ meats are packed with protein, enzymes, minerals, and powerful antioxidants like CoQ10, which supports the heart, brain, and mouth health.
Because it’s raw, it’s unprocessed — just how nature intended.
Cats that eat less processed, whole-food diets often have fewer diseases, better immune systems, and higher glutathione levels.
Cassian gets about a tablespoon of this raw mix daily — his “superfood scoop.”
The Supplement Lineup: What Keeps Cassian Thriving
To make sure Cassian’s getting complete nutrition, I add three key supplements that I’ve personally formulated.
1. Dr. Jones’ Ultimate Feline Health Formula
This contains:
-
Vitamins and minerals for daily balance
-
Glucosamine, chondroitin, and MSM for joint support
-
Probiotics for gut health and immune strength
-
Colostrum for natural immune defense
-
Extra taurine for heart and brain function
Cassian gets one scoop a day, mixed right into his food.
2. Dr. Jones’ Ultimate Omega-3 Formula (Krill Oil)
Cassian has mild food allergies — especially if he sneaks a bite of the dog’s food. Omega-3s help calm that inflammation.
He gets 1,000 mg of omega-3 fatty acids daily, which has almost completely stopped his itching and feline acne.
When I first adopted him, he had a severe hotspot on his face. Now, his skin and coat are clear and shiny.
(And yes, I squish the capsules with a garlic press to mix them into his food. Works every time.)

3. Dr. Jones’ Ultimate BioActive Quercetin
This is one of my favorites — quercetin is a plant-based flavonoid from apple peel and kale that acts as a natural antihistamine and anti-inflammatory.
It’s incredibly safe, can be given long-term, and supports cellular repair through autophagy — helping remove old, “zombie” cells that cause inflammation.
Cassian gets 150 mg of quercetin daily, sprinkled right on his food.

Feeding Amounts: How Much Is Enough?
The right amount depends on your cat’s age and activity level.
In general, cats need about 3 to 3.5 ounces of food per 3–4 pounds of body weight daily.
Cassian’s an indoor cat who loves to nap, so he eats a little over one 5.5-ounce can per day — divided between morning and afternoon meals.
Always watch your cat’s body condition and energy levels to fine-tune portions.
My Big Cat Feeding Reveal: The Summary
So, here’s exactly what I feed Cassian:
Main diet: Cage-free turkey or chicken — 100% animal protein, high in moisture
Raw food: Ground chicken with organ meats for nutrients and antioxidants
Supplements:
This combination keeps him energetic, allergy-free, and healthy from the inside out.
Final Thoughts
Feeding your cat a species-appropriate diet doesn’t have to be complicated.
Focus on animal protein, moisture, and a few key supplements to cover essential nutrients.
Cassian is living proof — healthy coat, clear eyes, strong heart, and plenty of personality.
