We Got Scammed: Hackers Took Over Our Facebook Page
Imagine logging into your social media and realizing that your official page with 528,000 followers has been hijacked. That’s exactly what happened to us. Hackers took over our Facebook page, and we want to make sure you don’t fall for any messages from the fake account. Your trust means everything to us, and we’re working hard to regain control and keep our community safe.

We Got Scammed: Hackers Took Over Our Facebook Page
I’m hoping to get this sorted out soon, but I wanted to share what happened so you’re aware and so you can avoid the same trap.
Here’s How It Happened: The Scam
About three weeks ago, I was contacted to do a Facebook Live with Katie Couric, former Today Show anchor. She’s very active in animal rescue and often features pet influencers.
It seemed legitimate. Multiple emails back and forth, all our questions answered. But behind the scenes, this was a scam.
The hackers claimed to be Katie Couric’s tech team and “helped” set up my page for the livestream. They sent a Zoom link for a “tech setup call” and asked me to share my screen. While supposedly fixing a technical issue, I was prompted to log in to the admin panel.
Before I knew it… they had full access to my Facebook page. Now, it’s no longer called Dr. Andrew Jones’ Veterinary Secrets—it’s been renamed Cutone McGonigle Max. And yes, I’m completely locked out.
What You Need to Do
If you see any messages or posts from my Facebook page, ignore them. Do not click any links or respond.
I’m actively working with Meta Support. I’ve spoken to over 10 different people so far, trying to submit the right documents to prove that this is my page and not “Cutone McGonigle Max.”
The hackers made big changes that even make submitting a support request tricky. Some Meta reps are helpful, others… not so much.
A Shout-Out to the Pet Community
I want to give a huge thanks to Rodney Habib of Planet Paws Media—the largest Pet Nutrition and Health Facebook site in the world! Rodney and Dr. Karen Becker were incredibly supportive. I met them at the SuperZoo Pet Product tradeshow in Las Vegas.
Even in situations like this, it’s clear that the supportive people far outnumber the scammers. I’m grateful for that reminder.
What’s Next
As I write this, I’m still waiting for a response from Meta Business Support so I can submit more documents proving my identity.
If anyone reading this has Facebook connections and could help, it would be so appreciated.
P.S. I’ll keep you updated as this situation with Facebook progresses.
