Oscar the Cat with Prosthetic Limbs
Oscar is a young, 3 year old domestic short hair, who had a serious farming accident. His two rear legs were removed when he was caught in a combine. In most cases this would have mean’t he would be euthanized- but his determined owners, and his veterinarian, Dr Noel Fitzpatrick thought otherwise: Oscar now has 2 prosthetic limbs.
The surgery involved drilling holes into what remained of Oscar’s legs and attaching special metal implants. Oscar’s skin has since grown over to cover part of the implants, and they now act as part of his body.
It has worked wonderfully!
You’ll be amazed at what Oscar can do in the video….
It’s quite remarkable what they are doing with the wheel chairs and prosthetic limbs for animals…recently saw a video of a horse with a prosthetic limb. It’s wonderful that people care so much they want these sweet animals to have a chance. They are wonderfully adaptable and learn to manage with the changes in their bodies. God Bless them (the people and the animals)
That is so cool. I am impressed on how far people will go for their fur babies now. They are not just a pet, they are part of the family!
This is truly remarkable!
This is amazing! I have a chihuahua who had an accident that mangled her paw. The morning of the surgery (he waited three days) the vet called and said he only did complete amputations. Thus he took her whole limb to the shoulder. It was just her paw and now I see this and it makes me want to cry! This would have been perfect for my baby!
Fabulous,Oscar is a wonderful fellow and for sure he deserves the lovely owners he got!
Praying for the day all animals could have those chances…
What a beautiful cat and remarkable story. We will do everything possible for our furry family. We love them that much. The cat acts like nothing happen.
Absolutely fantastic!! It is so wonderful what can be done for animals today. It is a shame that his owner and vet wanted to have him euthanized. It is so wonderful that this beautiful baby has a second chance at life!! May you have a wonderful and long life, Oscar!!
God bless the owners who do see the animals as worthy of another chance, and the veterinarians who will try such procedures to help the poor animals. I pray for the day or life where only people who think like this will live and the rest of the self loving arrogant will be no more, a world where only those who love and care about the other creatures will live with them in peace. Oscar is a beautiful cat. We humans could learn a lot from the animals. They just get on with their lives and do the best they can. They deserve only the very best.
RIGHT ON AJ!! This story brought tears to my eyes. I feel there is so much more we has humans can offter to animals but too many times “justice” seems to take a back seat in their well being. We all NEED to feel compassion for those who give unconditional love and to work for stricter laws in convicting those who kill, tortue, neglect and abuse the precious creatures!

Oscar is beautiful. He has wondeful owners who value Oscar as a family member. I love this story.
Beautiful! How joyous to see Oscar adapt so readily. Bless Oscar’s guardian angels. Love to all.
